I have a bone to pick with fashion bloggers who get paid in cash or free products for promoting brands.

Don’t think I don’t understand what it’s like for a fashion girl to get free clothes. I know exactly what it’s like and it’s impossible to say no. You see, I once designed for a fast fashion company and got more free clothes than I possibly could carry home every day. Sounds like heaven, right?

The problem was that these clothes weren’t really my style and I absolutely hated the low quality.

Still I ended up wearing those clothes but it wasn’t quite ME.

A great example of how FREE is CHEAP.

I have to warn you against listening to fashion bloggers or even magazines because they’re not independent and objective. They’re in the silk pockets of the fashion companies who pay them.

Just look at the terrible advice some bloggers dish out:

“This year you MUST wear pleated midi skirts. I won’t tell you they only look good on size XS Insta-Babes like myself or that they paid me to promote it.”

I hope you don’t try to copy the skinny blogger look because you might just look and feel like an idiot:

Why do I look so fat?

There must be something wrong with me because that fashion blogger looked amazing in this skirt.

Maybe you’ll get lucky if you happen to have the same tiny body type as the blogger (and the same photographer boyfriend following you around.)

Maybe you’ll be able to avoid looking 10 lbs bigger in a garment that’s 100 % wrong for your body type.

I don’t know.

But one thing is certain:

Following fashion advice from a blogger who’s getting paid by fashion companies instead of you only leads to making THEM money and making YOU look bad.

I bet you’ve been tricked by the fashion industry before by following one of those trends that make your body look terrible, missing out on the incredible feeling of loving your body because your outfit was perfect for your body type.

You know what I mean:

–          The pants that create the dreaded muffin top above your waistband.

–          The top that makes you look like a barrel.

–          All those outfits that make you look weird and question your body.

And I swear.

95 % of the outfits you find at the mall will make you look terrible in clothes even if you look beautiful naked.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

Let me introduce you to the magical world of dressing for your body type.

This is me: The 48 year old fashion designer and working mom who’s now the Go-to Stylist for Women Entrepreneurs.

And that’s my favorite dress: It streamlines my body, hides my big legs, and boost my small chest – so I feel like a HOTTIE.

Finding clothes like this is exactly what I help my clients do. I teach them to dress for their body type so they can feel good about their bodies, ignore stupid trends, and save money since they only buy clothes that are 100 % right for them.

I actually do the opposite of promoting the fashion industry like other bloggers do because I only accept payment from clients. This means I can be 100 % honest and only have my clients’ interests at heart.

Shopping becomes fast and easy for them, because they simply ignore 90 % of the clothes in stores and zone in on a few pieces that are perfect for them and their bodies.

This means they look 10 lbs lighter, 10 years younger, and finally start loving their bodies – maybe even for the first time.

They feel hot as hell and get a huge confidence boost so they can get out there and promote their business.

Listen to Ash Ambirge from the Middle Finger Project:

“If you’ve ever wanted to feel like both (a) a celebrity and (b) the coolest human alive, I cannot recommend hiring Hilde enough!!! (Cue: ALL THE KAZOOS.)

As someone who looooooves fashion, and who thinks she has pretty decent personal style (with the exception of that furry jacket from 2006) I never thought about hiring a personal stylist UNTIL all the sudden I realized that I might have an eye for style, but no CLUE how to dress for my body type. (Especially considering that my body type is playing a not-so-funny game of musical chairs.)

Pair that with an upcoming photo shoot for my brand, and I was all sorts of anxious about looking my best in front of the camera—which they say also adds another 15 fun-loving pounds.

That’s where Hilde came in. She worked with me virtually, which was a huge, huge help, given that I was in Costa Rica at the time, to help me plan and arrange the perfect, body-slimming wardrobe that was sharp, dynamite AND on-brand.

The minute she came on board I felt this hugeeee relief lifted off of my shoulders—it was so nice not to have to worry about this, for once, and just show up!

Whether you’re doing something professionally or just personally, this is a huge game changer, and I’m convinced every woman should have someone on their wardrobe team at least once in their life.

This is one treat that isn’t so much a treat, but a necessity. I’d hire Hilde every day of my life, if I could. It’s just a bonus that she’s so awesome and sweet on top of it all!

Let’s be real for a second. I’m not God’s gift to women (that’s Lewis Howes.)

But, I do have an unfair advantage when it comes to making your body look hot as hell.

You see. I have 5 years of fashion school and 20 years of fashion design behind my studded beltI know everything about making clothes fit like a glove, hiding body parts you want to hide, and flaunting those you love.

I’m also a mother who knows what it’s like to wear maternity jeans for MONTHS after having a baby.

Yes, I’ve been overweight, but I was so good at dressing for my body type that everyone thought I was a size M when honestly I was XL. So, while grown women who copy young skinny bloggers don’t always look that hot, they can look and feel absolutely stunning if they learn to dress for their particular body type.

Here’s Amanda Smith who didn’t recognize herself after she became a mom:

“Hilde is magical. Get Style Confidence. The word confidence.

You don’t realize it when you just start down this process but it hits you in a certain moment – and realizing in that moment that I do have the confidence to wear things like the dress I have on today.

I was not by any stretch of the imagination comfortable in this outfit, probably 2-3 years ago, but then I worked with Hilde and she brought back that confidence. And a lot of it for me had to do with my body type, and having a baby, and not being comfortable in my own skin.

And Hilde, beyond words:

Thank you for bringing that back in my life and making me feel confident in the clothes I can wear now and making me feel beautiful again.”

OMG! This testimonial from Amanda is why I get up in the morning!
