Bushra is the Queen of Webinars so let’s talk about her magic tricks.

 

Get some pretty lighting.

Light up your face by sitting in front of a window or placing lights right in front of you. They should ideally be at the same level as your face to wash away shadows and wrinkles. Play around with the placement of the lights to learn what works best.

 

Choose a background that suits your brand.

 

Bushra has a famous shower curtain in a wild design as a backdrop for her videos. It’s perfect for her funky brand but not so distractive that it takes the attention away from her face. She’s also been filming in a beautiful cream colored room that creates a luxurious atmosphere but is so neutral that Bushra and her message takes centre stage.

Should you use a crazy or a neutral background?

It depends on your brand and the message in the individual video, but I use this rule of thumb for myself:

Simple background if I want to highlight my style and clothes.

Bold and bright background if I want to evoke strong emotions and stop people scrolling and watch the video.

 

Easy make-up for webinars:

 

Make-up tends to disappear with lights and camera so you can wear much more than normal.

Foundation to even out your skin is a must for most of us.

Personally, I always wear powder on camera since the shine that makes you look young and fresh faced in everyday life just looks sweaty on camera.

 

Sparkly eyeshadow and even sun screen can look weird when hit by strong lights.

This is usually not a concern on a webinar but be aware of it for a photo shoot. (You don’t want to hire a photographer and end up with weird spots on your face because of light reflections.)

Bold beautiful lipstick ala Bushra is my favorite, but if you prefer a nude lip you can still add some neutral lip gloss or natural looking lipstick to add a bit of shine and polish.

 

Bushra always has gorgeous hair on her webinars and it truly is a trademark for her as it’s instantly recognizable.

Personally, I don’t have amazing hair but I do my best for webinars and videos.

I was frantically preparing for a webinar and making up new curse words trying to tame my frizzy curls when I suddenly realized: Nobody can see the back of my head, on video.

Yippie!

That sure made it easier. Another new trick I found is to do a quick fix with a curling iron instead of a complete wash and dry session.
